Our D.R.E.A.M. Foundation Business Pitch Competition - July 2016
From the Our D.R.E.A.M. Foundation website:
The Y.E.S. (Youth Entrepreneurship Startup) Program is a week-long FREE entrepreneurship summer program for high school students. The program is designed to introduce students to the foundational principles of business, to help cultivate the students’ own ideas and overall entrepreneurial spirit. Throughout the week, the students apply the information they learn, and work in groups to develop a business idea. At the conclusion of the program, students participate in a business pitch competition for awards and prizes. The program features lectures in basic business concepts, along with guest talks and mentorship from experienced regional entrepreneurs.
I encourage anyone reading this to find a way to support the great work that this foundation is doing. If nothing else, please consider making a donation to pay for things like lunch and refreshments for the students throughout the week. Your donations also help fund the trophies and cash prizes that motivate the kids to put their best effort into learning the principles of business and developing the best business plans possible.
The competition is real on pitch day because the kids are properly incentivized. With some money on the line, these kids are motivated all week long to learn what they need to learn to be competitive on pitch day.
