If you find that having an unobstructed path to the television is boring, then you, too, can enjoy picture-in-front-of-picture viewing. Just make a trip to your local animal shelter and ask "who likes to watch TV?" If you're in the DC area, check out the Humane Rescue Alliance. They have lots of people who will happily move into your house to obstruct your view!
