How do I choose?

Portrait art is an investment in the present and also in the future.

When defining your budget, think about what your product goals are: wall art, a few select prints, a keepsake album. Understanding what you really need as well as what you want, will help you determine which package is right for your family.

One way to help guide your choice is to project yourself to being 80 years old. What will you value then? Of the products offered by Lenzy Ruffin Photography, which of those products would your 80-year-old self be most happy that you invested in today?

Just to provide some perspective, a cable or satellite TV subscription of just $100 per month equals $6000 spent in five years. If you spend $5 per day on Starbucks or some other daily habit, that equals over $9000 spent in five years. And what will you have to show for your money?

Standard Sessions are untimed and the cost is determined by the print products you order. The goal is to capture whatever story arc you want to capture about your family. That might mean an hour or two or it might mean your session takes place over a couple of days. The session takes however long the family activities you have in mind take.

You don't pay for your session, you pay for the print products that your session produces.

You should understand going into this that the longer a session is, the more great images of your family we will create that you will want and Lenzy Ruffin Photography sells printed photos only.

The most cost-effective way to get all the photos from your session is to purchase an Heirloom Album. The video below explains why an album is something you may want to consider for your family.

You should also understand that our goal is to create great images that tell your family's story. You don't necessarily need dozens of images to do that. The images below are an example of what a Mini Session of one hour or less can produce.

These six photos are a priceless snapshot in time of this family. Individually or collectively, they would make for some great wall art that the family will enjoy for generations. These photos will mean the world to these children when they're mom and dad's age.

So don't get hung up on the notion of needing ALL the photos. The five or ten absolute best images are really all you need, unless you want to have a longer photo session where a photo album will be necessary to capture the complete story arc.

This kind of family photo session is all about storytelling. We're creating images for you and your family to enjoy now, as well as for generations down the road. Our goal is for those future generations to be able to see your family and know who you are and not just what you look like ("say cheese").

In a hundred years, your family's photo story will be priceless to your great, great, great grandkids as an insight into who you are and where they came from.

A "nothing special" image of your family playing cards or board games on a Friday evening becomes a lot more meaningful to you when you send your kids off to college, for example.

It has an entirely different significance when you're watching your child about to get married.

It's become a priceless family treasure by the time your great, great grandchildren are enjoying the window it provides into what family time looked like "back in the day."

More important than anything, it has EVERYONE in the photo!

There is beauty in your everyday family routine that you can't appreciate without the perspective of time. Printing your family photographs and hanging them on your walls provides you that perspective of time.

Printing your family photos into an album ensures that generations of your family will literally sit together to enjoy them.

Your great, great grandchildren are never going to see and enjoy any of those photos you have trapped inside your phone.

So decide what story you want to tell and when we have your Reveal Session, you can choose the package that makes sense for your family.

To get the most out of your session, when you fill out your questionnaire, think more in terms of the story you want to capture about your family "forever" rather than something you'd post on Facebook that people will only spend a few seconds looking at.

But don't overthink it. You don't have to come up with anything "special" or spectacular. As you can see in the images above, any activity that you and your family engage in together will yield special and spectacular images.

There's beauty in your family's routine. All you need is someone with a trained eye to photograph it.

How do we get started?

Fill out your questionnaire, if you haven’t already, so we can schedule your planning session to talk about your vision for your family's photo session.

Or if you're on this page because a friend shared it with you, fill out the contact form below and I'll be in touch shortly.
