2nd Annual Future of Greater Washington Conference
Leaders from around the region convened to discuss topics such as:
- "Housing affordability" versus "affordable housing" (there is a difference).
- Why the region is losing millenials (see first bullet
- Why companies like Amazon might choose not to come here (see first two bullets)
- How the region can no longer count on the federal government to bolster the local economy no matter what. The federal government contribution to the local economy has been declining for some time. There was a pretty sobering chart that showed that decline.
- Transportation
There were lots more topics covered. The conference was recorded and will be posted on the Leadership Greater Washington blog shortly. I encourage everyone in the D.C. area to check it out because it offers some deep insight into what factors determine what our region will look like ten to twenty years from now. Whether you run a business or just live here, the info discussed in this conference is relevant.
