This family has been in the rum-making business for 200 years! I was focused on covering the event, so I didn't sample the punch they had, but I WILL be seeking these people out.
This lady told me she wasn't selling anything. Actually, she was selling the most valuable commodity at the expo. Selling STEM is selling futures. Her name is Rhonda Thomas and you can check out what she's doing at www.leapforwardinc.org.
I love everything about this lady...her hair, her glasses, her booth was awesome. Everything in that corner of hers was full of personality.
This brother is serious about his bow ties! His display is an assortment of wooden ties in varying shapes and styles. You look at the wooden ties to choose a shape/style, then you select from the fabrics he has and he makes the tie in the shape and style you want, using the fabric of your choice. Made-to-order executed so simply, it's ingenious.
Don't ask me what happened here...
Everything was normal, then somebody got to giggling...
She just really cracked herself up, which is funny because she is so not funny!
Then, she broke out into a spontaneous touchdown celebration or something.
I don't know what any of this was about or where it came from.

At this point, I was done for the day. The expo still had a couple more hours to go, but I felt like I had enough images to tell the story of the event, so I started making my way back to the car. This queen here stopped me as I was leaving and asked me for my business card. I told her I'd trade her one for her picture.
Of course, she started out trying to mean mug me.
Why do they always start out trying to mean mug me? I should print some t-shirts that read: "You cannot mean mug me, pretty lady. I'm too good at this."

Yeah, there was commerce going on OUTSIDE the expo as well. Don't trip. Fortunes have been built selling out of the trunk...Too $hort, Master P, Daymond John...
Yep. You go right on and try to clown me with this big-a-- camera in my hand, gorgeous. I WILL shoot it!
She's not just a pretty face. She can model accessories, too. That's her holding the bags in the cover image for this blog post.
This sister isn't selling out of her trunk, she's selling out of the back of a cargo van! What kinda empire is SHE 'bout to build?!
